    LIAT and LIALPA Meet to Determine the Way Forward

    St. John's, Antigua - Nov. 7, 2013 - Representatives of LIAT’s management and the Leeward Islands Airline Pilots Association (LIALPA) met on Wednesday 06th November 2013 at LIAT’s headquarters in Antigua to discuss issues relating to the recent industrial action by LIALPA.

    LIAT restructuring management and assets

And the company has served notice that it will abandon more than three dozen unprofitable flights. These disclosures were made today at a press conference.

    Antigua: Arson Ruled out In LIAT fire


    St. John's - June 26, 2012 - (antiguaobserver.com): Arson has been ruled out as the cause of the June 10 fire that destroyed one of LIAT’s passenger aircraft in a blaze that gutted the regional carrier’s heavy maintenance hangar located behind VC Bird International Airport.


    St. John’s, Antigua -- June 14, 2012 - Based on currently available information, LIAT estimates that insured losses from the June 10, 2012 fire at its hangar at the V.C. Bird International Airport will be approximately EC$35 million.

    St.John's - Dec. 8, 2011 - The ongoing industrial action by LIATs pilots, through its trade union body the Leeward Island Airline Pilots Association (LIALPA) is an unfortunate and untimely action which can only serve to damage the financial prospects for LIAT and severely affect members of the traveling public.


    St. John's, Antigua, December 07, 2011 - On Tuesday 6th December and Wednesday 7th December, members of the Leeward Islands Airline Pilots Association (LIALPA) called in sick throughout the LIAT network, effectively shutting down the company’s flight operations and stranding thousands of passengers throughout the region. On both days only one flight was able to operate moving from Antigua and Trinidad respectively.
